FROM ENGLAND TO ANTIPAROS

A wedding that seems to come out of a bohemian fairytale, embracing the breathtakingly picturesque scenery of Antiparos.

Our delightful couple, Elia and Alex live and work in London, England, so with their wedding celebration, they knew they needed to gather their family and friends from all over the world, as well as their Greek family, all together somewhere special. For Elia and Alex it was important to them to return to their Greek roots and traditions. So, when it was time to plan their destination wedding they knew that the enchanting beauty of Antiparos island would offer the right amount of romantic magic for their stunning wedding celebration. The island of Antiparos is one of the best kept secrets of the Greek Cyclades. This picturesque island with its unspoilt beaches, beautiful weather, gorgeous landscape and delicious traditional local food is simply enchanting to all who visit.

Planning a wedding from a distance was challenging, so the couple decided a wedding planner was absolutely necessary. Elia and Alex, chose the locally-based wedding planning firm la fete to style and plan their wedding nuptials. The couple wanted an organic and elegant wedding concept with beautiful  bohemian chic wedding details. Above all else it was extremely important to keep the celebration authentic and fun! The la fete team was ecstatic about the wedding celebration in Antiparos from the start of the wedding planning journey with Elia & Alex. Together with the couple, la fete chose and designed the pre wedding party, church and reception venues, as well as the couple’s customized wedding website for this bespoke wedding celebration weekend.  With guidance from la fete the couple selected beautiful kraft cardstock wedding invitations because of the strength and durability, and the soft feel. They decided on a courier font to give the lovely invitations a clean, minimal look and feel.

For Elia and Alex’s pre wedding party they wanted to do something exceptionally fun so la fete threw a pre wedding bash at a local cocktail bar the night before the big day. Guests enjoyed an awesome arrangement of music from a wonderful DJ, bbq, and an open bar. Needless to say, it was nonstop dancing and laughing all night. Elia and Alex’s guests also took home eco-friendly burlap bracelets, as a lovely and meaningful gift created by la fete. The couple worked closely with la fete on every single detail including the seating arrangement. Elia and Alex wanted to create a unique reception seating that would satisfy all the wedding guests. They wanted guests to feel that every seat was the best seat in the house. La fete accomplished this matter with grace and ease. At the wedding, guests were artfully arranged in such a way that everyone could witness the lovely couple tie-the-knot.

On the big day, the couple and wedding bridal party had a fabulous time  preparing for the celebration at B&G villas. The luminous bride chose a breathtaking fairytale wedding dress paired with an amazing veil that gave the bride a unique flow with her every move. Elia accessorized a gorgeous pair of blush colored Yves Saint Lauren heels that beautifully completed this bohemian, yet sophisticated look. The bride carried a stunning bridal bouquet true to the bohemian chic wedding aesthetic with an astonishingly romantic array of dried wildflowers. The handsome groom opted for an eye-catching deep sea blue jacket combined with perfectly tailored white dress shirt, dress pants, and stunning Oxford shoes that complemented the groom’s timeless and genuinely elegant outfit.

The beautiful wedding venue was at the quaint chapel of Agios Ioannis Spiliotis. This lovely chapel is located directly outside the historic Cave of Antiparos. The Cave of Antiparos is a local natural wonder full of stalactites and stalagmites. The oldest stalagmite in the cave is estimated to be approxiamately 45 million years old. Inscriptions on the walls of the cave are evidence that many prominent individuals visited the cave including Alexander the Great, King Otto and the lyric poet Archilochus of Paros. The wedding ceremony was conducted in the courtyard of Agios Ioannis Spiliotis. The charming courtyard was filled with lovely weaved baskets with soft whimsical wildflowers. The emotional and intimate seaside wedding ceremony was extremely heartfelt. Guests were overjoyed as they witnessed the union of this amazing couple while the romantic, yet wild coastline view provided a stunning backdrop for this once-in-a-lifetime wedding experience.

After the wedding ceremony, guests enjoyed fresh lemonade, local Tsipouro and local sweets like pasteli and helped themselves to some beautifully weaved natural grass fans. The wondrous scenery of Antiparos is one of the prime reasons Elia and Alex chose the island over countless other islands. La fete wanted to honor the bride and groom, the guests in attendance, and the island itself. For this reason, la fete opted for the elements of the ceremony to be locally sourced. La fete added an elegant mix locally sourced dried wild flowers and pampas grasses, mixed textures and traditionally inspired elements for a boho vibe. The goal was to capture the colors of nature of this beautiful and romantic island. To achieve this la fete incorporated earth tones and natural color combinations like blush pink, soft creamy white and natural beige. La fete ultimately wanted to discreetly include the amazing beauty of this island without distracting the guests from the lovely couple on their special day.

Following the wedding ceremony, guests continued on to the wedding reception for a welcome cocktail at the Sunset Deseo venue. Guests were simply ecstatic when they were welcomed to the stunning seaside venue.  La fete had created an easy-to-read and well-organized seating display so that guests were relaxed and could see precisely where they needed to go the moment they walked into the reception space. The wedding reception layout had an intimate feel with the family-style dinner tables and white tiffany chair seating. Which, in turn, made friends and family feel more involved in the festivities. The bohemian chic design continued with garlands from pampas grass, whimsical wildflowers everywhere, the tablescapes with beautiful bamboo placemats, soft lighting from candles encased in bamboo, fairy lights, and unique personalized glass vial vase favors with wildflowers and sugared almonds inside. La fete put together an impressive locally inspired Greek buffet with an emphasis on locally sourced ingredients. Guests couldn’t hide their enthusiasm for the local island delicacies.

The laid back party was a wonderful international mix of music played by the talented DJ, where loved ones laughed, danced and sang along in celebration of the fun-loving couple as they enjoyed an island vibe on a beautiful night under the stars at this perfect bohemian wedding.

The weekend celebrations were all captured, so beautifully, by, the talented wedding photographers at PolkaDotStudios, and styled and planned by the team at la fete.
